Dad’s view:
After nine months, on May 8th, at 5:16 am Emmett Ander Boone joined our world. The hours that directly preceded are described below;

Steven Boone
Mom’s View:
Emmett was due Tuesday May 6th, and we saw Dr. Carter that morning and it didn’t seem as though Emmett was coming any time soon.
My water broke at 2:30 AM on Wednesday May 7th. We waited at home until my contractions were 3-5 minutes apart before heading to the hospital. Stopping at two McDonald’s on the way, knowing it was going to be a long day!
We were admitted to Labor and Delivery at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Campus at 5:00 AM. The nurses let Steven and I roam the halls for two hours trying to induce labor, since my contractions had stopped completely on the ride to the hospital. At 7:00 AM, we were moved into our labor suite and the Pitocin drip was started, to help start the contractions.
At 8:00 PM, the anesthesiologist inserted the epidural since the labor was not progressing as quickly as we would like and I was tiring after13 hours of labor.
At 2:30 AM on Thursday May 8th, I was fully dilated and ready to push. Needless to say after two hours of pushing Emmett was not coming. At 4:30 AM, Dr. Carter decided it was best for everyone for Emmett to be delivered by cesarean section.

Emmett was born at 5:16 AM!

Congratulations! I’m so very happy for you! Emmett is the luckiest boy ever to have wonderful parents like you. Can’t wait to meet him soon. Love you, Lynn
